Perennial favourites Germany up against the mighty Cristiano Ronaldo and his ten man support act – who is going to prevail? You would imagine that Germany, with their astounding World Cup record, would be the ones with the most positive outlook going into the game but when you are up against a supercharged Ronaldo as well as immense players like Joao Moutinho, you can’t afford to let your guard slip.
Germany are the favourites going into the game with Germany a nice 3.40 to be winning at half-time and then continue that trend until full-time, with Portugal being 6.00 so it’s a bit more of a risk but if you believe the rumours about the uncertainty in the German national team at present particularly with nobody being sure who is going to start at left-back, you could have an early upset for the prolific Germans.
It promises to be an incredibly exciting match and you would look to players like Marco Reus to be the difference makers for German on what will be a tense match against an opponent who may not be as “golden” as previous generations but impressed at Euro 2012 as well as enjoying the company of the aforementioned Ronaldo.
Our bet would be for a Germany win on the basis that they very rarely fail to impress and as good as Portugal are, they may get the points they need to get into the knockouts elsewhere, but we don’t see them picking three points up against Germany. A draw at both half-time and full-time is a balanced 5.00, but it’s unlikely given the fine contrast in both teams.
